The Introduction

Lisa and Alejandro met as students attending Dominican University in Blauvelt, NY. Alejandro sat behind Lisa in Neuroscience class where he says it was love at first sight. He was enamored by her freckles and curly red hair. Lisa was intrigued by Alejandro's charm, his dedication to his studies, and his passion for soccer. They often crossed paths in the college gym, having a common interest in fitness.

As their friendship deepened, they started studying together. Alejandro would help Lisa with her projects and Lisa would review Alejandro's academic papers. It wasnt very long before the spring semester ended and they parted ways for the summer.

In July 2010, Alejandro invited Lisa to NYC where they went on their first date; and what a date it was! Alejandro pulled out the big guns with Mexican cuisine (Lisa's favorite) at Tequila Sunrise and tickets to the Top of the Rock observation deck at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. She was locked in from there on out.

The In-Between

Lisa and Alejandro dated long distance for almost two years (phew!). Lisa would eventually move from upstate New York to Queens to begin her career in Occupational Therapy. The two moved in to their first apartment together and have since co-parented Tyson, their beloved Russian blue kitty. Alejandro worked in building management and soon became a licensed Real Estate Agent.

Lisa and Alejandro have spent years building memories together. They enjoy being outside; bike riding, hiking, and barbecuing. They like to travel; experiencing new places together and trying new foods. In the most recent years, they have dedicated their time, energy, and attention to renovating their house in upstate New York and growing their commercial cleaning company.

The Proposal

Alejandro proposed in Jardin, Colombia on December 23, 2023 during a family weekend getaway. The trip was thoughtfully planned by Alejandro and his cousins. Everyone packed into three cars and roadtripped to the historic town (hours away from the city). They ate, they explored, and they took in the breathtaking architecture throughout the foothills of the town. Alejandro got down on one knee in front of The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception; one of the most important Catholic churches in the region. The church is stunning. Lisa had spent a good part of the day admiring its hand-carved stone facade, colorful stained glass windows, and marble altar. When it lit up that night, Alejandro knew it was the perfect backdrop to pop the question. Lisa, overwhelmed with joy, said yes!

The name Jardin, which means garden in Spanish, is inspired by the areas lush greenery and abundant flowers. The fertile lands and mild climate make it ideal for coffee cultivation. Lisa and Alejandro share a love of coffee. On Christmas Eve (the day after they were engaged) they spent the whole day touring and tasting at Cafe Historias coffee farm.

They quickly decided they would be married in Colombia, honoring Alejandros heritage and the place that holds so much meaning to them.

The Future

As they plan their big day, Lisa and Alejandro envision a ceremony and reception that blends cultures, symbolizing the unity of their love. They can not wait to be surrounded by family and friends (many of which will meet for the first time) as they exchange their wedding vows in the picturesque city of Medellin, with the beautiful landscape reflecting their happiness.

Their journey is a testament to the power of love and the beauty of two hearts finding their way to each other, regardless of where they come from or where they have been. Lisa and Alejandro share goals, dreams, and imagine an eternity at each others side.
